The Director, IT Commercial Systems will lead the strategy, design, and delivery of technology solutions for Xeris’ commercial organization. As a key partner to Sales, Marketing, Commercial Operations, Patient/Market Access, and other key stakeholders, this role will drive scalable, data-driven solutions that improve operational efficiency, accelerate insights, and enable innovative approaches to how commercial data is collected, analyzed, and leveraged as a competitive advantage.
Operating within a growth-oriented biopharmaceutical company with marketed products and a late-stage clinical asset, this leader will combine deep commercial systems expertise with a strong focus on modernizing back-end and front-end systems capable of leveraging artificial intelligence, machine learning, and automation engineering. This role will serve as a catalyst for enterprise-wide AI strategy and adoption, to include embedding AI as a competitive advantage and advancing Xeris’ AI maturity
Commercial Systems Leadership
• Own the end-to-end strategy, roadmap, and delivery of commercial technology platforms supporting the commercial organization.
• Serve as a trusted advisor and strategic partner to commercial and patient-facing business leaders, translating business objectives into scalable technology solutions.
• Ensure systems are fit for a multi-product, growth-oriented biopharmaceutical environment and capable of supporting future product launches.
• Support commercial teams in maturing and maintaining a data governance strategy, forum, and standards to ensure alignment with cross-functional teams and compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations.
Data, Analytics & Innovation
• Lead the design and evolution of commercial data architectures, including CRM, data warehouses, and analytics platforms.
• Drive innovative use of machine learning and artificial intelligence to improve forecasting, targeting, segmentation, patient journey insights, and commercial effectiveness.
• Champion advanced analytics, real-time data delivery, and self-service insights for commercial teams.
• Partner with Commercial Operations to operationalize models and embed insights directly into business workflows.
Automation & Application Development
• Identify and implement automation opportunities across commercial operations, reporting, and data workflows using modern automation.
• Oversee the development and enhancement of custom applications and tools that address unique commercial and patient support needs.
• Promote agile delivery methods and modern engineering practices to accelerate solution development and adoption.
• Champion the vision, strategy, and execution of AI and machine learning initiatives across all commercial systems, identifying high-impact use cases that drive revenue growth, customer experience enhancement, and operational efficiency.
• Pioneer the integration of advanced analytics and machine learning into core commercial platforms (CRM, marketing, sales, pricing, and service systems), transforming data into predictive insights and intelligent automation that differentiate the company in the marketplace.
• Cultivate next-level thinking by building AI capabilities, governance frameworks, and cross-functional partnerships; educate leadership and stakeholders on emerging AI trends to ensure responsible, scalable, and value-driven adoption enterprise-wide.
Stakeholder & Vendor Management
• Act as the primary IT liaison for commercial functions, ensuring strong governance, prioritization, and alignment across initiatives.
• Manage relationships with technology vendors, system integrators, and external partners.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and platforms, to continuously improve the commercial technology ecosystem.
Compliance, Security & Scalability
• Ensure all commercial systems and data solutions meet regulatory, privacy, and security requirements (e.g., data privacy regulations, HIPAA, Sunshine Act, etc.).
• Design systems with scalability, reliability, and data integrity in mind to support organizational growth.
Required
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Informatics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
• 10+ years of progressive IT experience, including leadership of commercial systems in life sciences - either biopharma, or device.
• Demonstrated experience supporting commercial organizations to include sales, marketing, commercial operations, market and patient access organizations.
• Strong expertise in CRM platforms (e.g., Veeva, Salesforce), commercial data platforms, and analytics ecosystems.
• Hands-on experience driving initiatives involving machine learning, artificial intelligence, automation engineering, and advanced analytics.
• Proven ability to translate complex business needs into practical, high-impact technology solutions.
Preferred
• Experience supporting multiple marketed products and launch readiness for late-stage pipeline assets.
• Familiarity with modern cloud architecture, data warehouses, and API-based integrations.
• Experience with low-code/no-code platforms, workflow automation tools, and custom application development.
• Strong understanding of pharmaceutical commercial data sources (claims, specialty pharmacy, hub data, third-party data providers).

Working Conditions: May require periodic evening and/or weekend activity to meet company deadlines and/or satisfy peak project workloads. Periodic overnight travel. This is a hybrid role based in Xeris’ Chicago office and requires a minimum of three days per week in the office. On-site requirements may change at management’s discretion.
The level of the position will be determined based on the selected candidate’s qualifications and experience.

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $185,000 to $230,000. Final determination of base salary offered will depend on several factors relevant to the position, including but not limited to candidate skills, experience, education, market location, and business need. This role will include eligibility for bonus and equity. The total compensation package will also include additional elements such as multiple paid time off benefits, various health insurance options, retirement benefits and more.
