This position assists in the execution of analytical and characterization methods to support pharmaceutical formulation, process, and method development activities. The Late-Stage Analytical Intern will work independently and with other members of the team in implementing analytical methods for small molecule and therapeutic peptide drug product formulations.
• Assist in developing and optimizing various characterization methods.
• Analyze and interpret data.
• Read literature applicable to research and analysis as required.
• Record instrument data, tabulate data, and keep detailed laboratory records.
• Perform method robustness and qualification studies.
• At the conclusion of the internship, prepare a comprehensive review of the internship experience and present to the organization
• Undergraduate or graduate candidate pursing a BS, MS or Ph.D. degree in biology, biochemistry, chemistry, or related discipline and/or has completed a minimum of 2 years of undergraduate studies
• Minimum GPA 3.0.
• Returning to academic program at a credentialed institution for at least one semester post-internship.
• General knowledge of drug product development.
• Previous research/lab experience with analytical chemistry, data management and data analysis software
• Ability to conduct and interpret scientific experiments, providing suggestions for additional experiments. Self-motivated to execute with limited supervision and direction. Ability to conduct and interpret scientific experiments, providing suggestions for additional experiments.
• Troubleshoot instrument, identify and solve elementary problems in experimental designs. Demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

• Working Conditions: Position may require periodic evening work, as necessary to fulfill obligations. Must be able to lift 25 lbs or more. Adequate vision (corrected or uncorrected) to read fine instruments such as calipers, instrument displays, etc., and perform visual inspection for defects. Position works with potentially hazardous chemicals and active pharmaceutical ingredients. This role is based in Xeris’ Chicago office and requires five days per week in the office.

The anticipated hourly wage for this position is $23.50 - $33.50. Final determination of hourly wage offered will depend on several factors relevant to the position, including but not limited to candidate skills, experience, and education.
