Overview

The Associate Director, Patient Access operations will lead and manage the daily execution and continuous improvement of Xeris’ specialty pharmacy network and patient support services operations. This role is critical to ensuring that patients can access the company’s therapies quickly, seamlessly, and compliantly with requisite support throughout their treatment journey. 

Responsibilities

  • Leadership and Strategy 
  • Lead the strategy, execution, and optimization of patient access operations, with a focus on specialty pharmacy operations and patient support services, i.e. copay and other financial assistance programs. 
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Commercial, Market Access, Medical, Marketing, IT, Compliance, and Legal teams to align patient access operations initiatives with broader organizational goals. 
  • Act as the operational lead for patient access programs, overseeing key vendors and service providers. 
  • Specialty Pharmacy Operations 
  • Manage day-to-day relationships and performance of specialty pharmacy partners, ensuring timely product distribution and reporting. 
  • Develop and track KPIs for distribution performance, turnaround time, inventory management, and data quality. 
  • Work closely with Market Access and Legal team to evaluate, contract, and onboard new pharmacy partners as needed. 
  • Patient Support Services 
  • Oversee patient enrollment processes, ensuring high-quality patient onboarding, benefits verification, prior authorization support, and adherence programs. 
  • Monitor patient case management processes and recommend improvements to enhance the patient and provider experience. 
  • Analyze patient access barriers and implement programs to address reimbursement challenges, access delays, and abandonment. 
  • Operational Excellence 
  • Use data-driven insights to recommend improvements and innovations across access operations. 
  • Develop SOPs and training for internal teams and partners to ensure consistency and compliance. 
  • Ensure all operations comply with federal and state regulations, industry best practices, and company policies. 
  • People & Vendor Management 
  • Manage external vendors and consultants, holding them accountable to service-level agreements (SLAs) and performance metrics. 
  • Identify, hire, and develop a highly qualified team of patient services and specialty pharmacy operations professionals. Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, management, marketing, or equivalent experience. 
  • 8+ years’ experience in the pharmaceutical/healthcare environment, in roles involving patient advocacy, reimbursement, and marketing/sales including previous patient access management experience 
  • Ability to exhibit agility in an evolving environment.  
  • Decision support experience. 
  • Ability to comply with HIPPA guidelines. 
  • Strong track record of driving results in a complex internal and external environment 
  • Competencies: Project Management, Relationship Management, Change Agility, Authentic Leadership, Talent Developer, Attention to Details, Written and Verbal Communication. 
  • Position may require periodic evening and weekend work, as necessary to fulfill obligations. Periodic overnight travel. 
  • This is a remote position and requires travel up to 25%  
  • This is a hybrid position based in Xeris’ Chicago headquarters. A minimum of three days per week on-site is required. On-site requirement may change at management’s discretion.

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $130,000 to $230,000. Final determination of base salary offered will depend on several factors relevant to the position, including but not limited to candidate skills, experience, education, market location, and business need. This role will include eligibility for bonus and equity. The total compensation package will also include additional elements such as multiple paid time off benefits, various health insurance options, retirement benefits and more. Details about these and other offerings will be provided at the time a conditional offer of employment is made.
