Overview

The Manager/Senior Manager, Specialty Pharmacy plays a critical leadership role in shaping and executing specialty pharmacy strategies that ensure timely, efficient, and equitable patient access to Xeris’ rare disease therapies. This position will serve as the primary liaison between the company and our specialty pharmacy provider, distribution partners, and internal stakeholders to optimize channel performance, monitor adherence to service-level agreements (SLAs), and enhance the overall patient and provider experience. 

Responsibilities

Specialty Pharmacy Oversight: 

  • Lead the day-to-day management of Xeris’ specialty pharmacy network partner(s), including performance oversight, contract compliance, and operational alignment. 
  • Partner with Market Access, Legal, Marketing, and Commercial to optimize the specialty pharmacy channel for product launches and ongoing support. 

 

Patient Access Strategy: 

  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop and execute strategies that reduce barriers to patient access, for complex, high-touch rare disease therapies. 
  • Monitor and analyze patient journey metrics to identify opportunities for improved access, adherence, and outcomes. 

 

Program Development and Enhancement: 

  • Lead initiatives to refine distribution models, streamline onboarding processes, and support product-specific access programs in collaboration with cross-functional teams. 
  • Assist in the design and implementation of data-driven tools and dashboards for real-time monitoring of patient access and pharmacy partner performance. 

 

Vendor & Contract Management: 

  • Manage relationships and contracts with specialty pharmacy providers ensuring alignment with corporate goals and compliance requirements. 
  • Participate in vendor selection and RFP processes as needed. 

 

Cross-Functional Collaboration: 

  • Partner with internal stakeholders across Commercial, Medical Affairs, Legal, Regulatory, Compliance, and IT to ensure seamless access solutions that are compliant and patient-centric. 
  • Serve as subject matter expert (SME) for specialty pharmacy operations during product launches, internal training, and external audits.

 

Data Analysis & Reporting: 

  • Interpret performance and outcomes data from specialty pharmacies to drive actionable insights. 
  • Deliver routine reports on access metrics, channel health, and performance KPIs to senior leadership. Provide actionable, data-driven recommendations to inform commercial strategy. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Business, or related field required; advanced degree (e.g., PharmD, MBA, MPH) preferred. 
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry, with at least 3 years in a specialty pharmacy, patient access, or rare disease environment. 
  • Proven experience managing specialty pharmacy relationships and operations. 
  • Strong understanding of rare disease patient needs, treatment landscapes, and the specialty distribution model. 
  • Demonstrated success in developing patient access strategies and navigating payer, provider, and pharmacy dynamics. 
  • Excellent communication, project management, and cross-functional leadership skills. 
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations (e.g., HIPAA, OIG guidance, 340B) and compliance standards.
  • Preferred Experience: Experience in patient access for rare or ultra-rare disease therapies. Familiarity with hub services, copay programs, and reimbursement support models. Experience with data analytics tools and platforms (e.g., Tableau, Salesforce and other CRM systems).
  • Working Conditions: Up to 25% domestic travel required for meetings and conferences. Valid, state-issued driver’s license is required.

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $120,000 - $200,000. Final determination of base salary offered will depend on several factors relevant to the position, including but not limited to candidate skills, experience, education, market location, and business need. This role will include eligibility for bonus and equity. The total compensation package will also include additional elements such as multiple paid time off benefits, various health insurance options, retirement benefits and more. Details about these and other offerings will be provided at the time a conditional offer of employment is made.
