Overview

The Vice President, Finance Strategy and Performance is a key member of the Finance team and a strategic partner to Xeris’ Investor Relations & Business Development functions. This position will execute on the Company’s strategic vision by putting a strong focus on capital structure, capital allocation, financing initiatives, investor communications, and aligning the Company’s financial practices with our strategic goals. The role combines strategic insight, financial acumen, and a deep understanding of capital markets to maximize shareholder value and support the company’s long-term growth objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all financing related initiatives in the pursuit of driving the lowest overall cost of capital for the business.
  • In partnership with the business development team, lead the financial analysis and evaluation of mergers, acquisitions, and other business development transactions as required. Provides subject matter expertise and guidance regarding all business development-related transactions and the optimal financing strategy.
  • In collaboration with Xeris’s financial planning team, provide guidance and counsel in development of long-range plans involving strategy development, resource allocation, work plans and timelines, and financial outcomes.
  • Collaborate with the executive team to shape business strategies and identify growth opportunities.
  • Conduct and report on peer and competitive analysis of business models and capital allocation strategy.
  • Work with investor relations team:
    • To monitor, analyze, and report on equity performance, including market trends and shareholder value impact.
    • To develop and implement strategies to enhance equity valuation and support investor relations efforts for the company.
  • Work collaboratively with CEO, CFO, investor relations, finance and legal teams in helping provide insights for quarterly earnings and investor conferences including press releases, scripts, slide decks, Q&A and other materials as required.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes within the healthcare and pharmaceutical sector to identify potential investor, business development opportunities and disruptions.
  • Provide regular updates and support for Board, Investor, and Business Development activities and presentations.
  • Maintain strong positive working relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Finance, or related field. MBA or related advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 15 years of progressive financial leadership experience, with a significant portion in investment banking.
  • Experience in life sciences and pharmaceutical industry a plus.
  • Expert-level proficiency in financial modeling, external benchmarking and analysis, corporate strategy/scenario planning, business development assessment
  • Established working knowledge of financial regulatory guidelines and regulations, both U.S. and international
  • Proven success presenting complex financial information to a range of key stakeholders including Executives, Board of Directors, Banks, Lenders, Analysts, and Investors
  • Superior Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills

  • Working Conditions: May require periodic evening and/or weekend activity to meet company deadlines and/or satisfy peak project workloads. Periodic overnight travel. This is a hybrid role based in Xeris’ Chicago office and requires a minimum of three days per week in the office. On-site requirement may change at management’s discretion.

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $320,000 to $350,000. Final determination of base salary offered will depend on several factors relevant to the position, including but not limited to candidate skills, experience, education, market location, and business need. This role will include eligibility for bonus and equity. The total compensation package will also include additional elements such as multiple paid time off benefits, various health insurance options, retirement benefits and more. Details about these and other offerings will be provided at the time a conditional offer of employment is made.
