  • Overview

    Based in San Diego, CA, the Human Resources Business Partner will serve as a strategic partner to Xeris’ Research & Development, Quality Assurance, Regulatory, Clinical Development and Corporate functions.  This position will support these teams on recruitment, talent development & engagement, employee relations, onboarding and offboarding activities, and interpretation and adherence to company policies.  The incumbent will collaborate closely with other HR team members to ensure alignment across the Company.  Additionally, the position will be responsible for Company diversity and inclusion program development and oversight.  This position reports to the Director of HR.

    Responsibilities

    • Leads talent acquisition activities, including search strategy & sourcing, screening, behavioral interviewing, offers & offer negotiation for designated functions
    • Handles college relations and oversees various sourcing and internship programs
    • Develop, implement and monitor programs that promote diversity within the Company
    • Identifies training and development needs for business units and individual coaching needs
    • Participates in evaluation and monitoring of training programs to ensure success.   Follows up to ensure training objectives are met
    • Collaborates with HR colleagues on onboarding and offboarding initiatives and evolve existing processes and programs to align with company objectives
    • Be a key partner with the various teams to identify opportunities to accelerate work toward the achievement of overall corporate goals
    • Provides advice and counsel to managers and supervisors regarding employee practices, policy and employment laws (e.g., coaching, career development, disciplinary actions)
    • Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.  Partners with the legal team as needed
    • Manages HR metrics for identified functions such as monthly headcount report, vacancy report, new starters and leavers, etc.
    • Manage leave of absences for identified functions
    • Participates in exit activities including conducting exit interviews with exiting employees, identifying common themes and elevating to management on a periodic basis
    • Participates in initiatives and/or other activities as required

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in business or other related field required
    • Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification or other relevant certification or advanced degree preferred
    • Minimum 7 years of progressive HR generalist experience, including experience in recruiting and resolving complex employee relations issues
    • Prior experience in a growing pharmaceutical or biotechnology company is a plus
    • Proven success with managing diversity and inclusion initiatives
    • Experience managing leave of absences in the state of California  
    • High-level proficiency in California employment law
    • Strong cross-functional team player with a team first attitude
    • Demonstrated ability to set example and maintain a positive culture and environment for company

    • Excellent computer skills required including Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and HRIS systems 
    • Experience with ADP’s WorkforceNow and iCIMS is a plus

    • Up to 15% travel
    • Position may require periodic evening and weekend work, as necessary to fulfill obligations.  Periodic overnight travel.
